Congratulations, Graduates!


Let's not let the pandemic stop us from celebrating the accomplishments of our recent graduates...

Congratulations to all Hispanic Studies and Portuguese Studies graduating seniors!

A special congratulations also to the graduating seniors who won various departmental awards:

Rowan Gossett, who wrote a thesis on Mapuche activism and the limits of mainstream Chilean feminist movements, won LAIC’s Susan Huntington Vernon Prize for excellence in the study of Latin American and Iberian Cultures.

Fernanda Jiménez won the Dr. Antonio G. Mier Prize for excellence in Hispanic Studies.

Zach Kahn, who wrote a thesis on legal and technological changes in the film industry in contemporary Cuba, was awarded departmental honors.

Lizzy Phillips, who wrote a thesis on debates over memory, trauma, and politics in contemporary Spain, was also awarded departmental honors.
